More than 2,000 years ago Greek cartographer Estrabon described the Iberian Peninsula as the Piel de Toro, "The Skin of a bull" due to the resemblance of its shape to a stretched bull´s skin. This metaphor has been used by Spaniards for generations to refer to our country, covering the entire extension its singular territory.
